these people are stupid they don’t want to do their homework they want everything given to them and they believe everything the Democrat Party says to them. you are so right! I paid for every penny of my social security and, Medicare (and continue to pay as our ‘additional fee’ is automatically deducted monthly from my social security! Trust me, I did not want to participate in either program as I could have provided for myself better by investing like dollars in investments of my choice. So, people, DON’T call these programs ENTITLEMENTS. I already paid for it! they do not consider Social security or Medicare which is paid for by senior citizens socialism. That is what a lot of people like AIC are trying to make people believe. Everyone pays into both from the moment they join the workforce. They continue to pay every month for Medicare!

What everyone seems to forget Obamacare was forced on to people. Pelosi said read it later, just vote yes and they did. We’re not talking about Trump’s taxes here Linda, but about the Democrats running for POTUS turning this country socialist or at least trying to be giving what is earned away for free. Just remember what’s given away is not really free, but paid by the people that work and pay tax dollars which I’m sure will go sky high to maintain the non-workers. The food stamps you mention account for so little percentage of the federal budget that if the program were ended it wouldn’t even register. I noticed you didn’t mention public school so I guess some socialism is ok for you. I’m not against helping people, I’m against helping people that can work, but won’t. Why? Some people I know won’t work because they get more money from unemployment than from a job that pays $11.00 an hour, they get food stamps, etc. if they get a job they lose their $400.00 dollar a week paycheck and who knows how much in other freebies. I also know people that work 2 or more jobs, because they have pride in themselves and would only partake in getting anything for free unless they absolutely needed to. Been there and done that myself. Public schools are taxed based and free to all that want to attend, so that would be a part of socialism, but is it a part where the taxes are all for nought. I understand that they continue to rise, as did mine this tax year, but public school is based on grades pre-kinder thru 12th, should our taxes go higher so that graduates be able to attend college for free also, I think not. Once one graduate’s high school they have deemed adults and should be able to determine what path to take, further education, the military or the workforce.

That’s great Dawn and I’m truly happy for you and your fellow persons. I just doubt that the American people would want their taxes raised so that there can be freebies for those that don’t want to work, but can. qualifying statement: I paid into social security from the time I turned 16 until I was 23. The income helped pay for my college education. When I became a public school employee, I no longer paid. I was in a teacher retirement program. Result: I essentially donated to a fund that I will not receive benefits from nor that I can reclaim without any interest accrued. we also pay into Medicaid. Look at Sweden, Norway, and many other Democratic Socialist countries. They have America put to shame in almost every way except poverty. Would it be because you have less populated countries and thus able to go that route? I’ll have to do some research on why it works or how it works. Fun fact as Paul Ryan received $500,000 from the Koch brothers within days of the tax bill passage. Guarantee you there is something similar going on with Mitch McConnell and his desire to dismantle social security and medicare. No Brent she’s not lying. Read the Windfall Elimination Program on the Social Security web site and the Government Offset Program also. You’ll be surprised as to how some get screwed on those programs just because they receive a pension. I didn’t mention colleges. I mentioned Public schools as an example of how some socialism is already built into our system. So it’s not a discussion of if socialism is ok it’s a question of where to draw the line. That’s why there needs to be a real discussion. Not just the republicans saying “socialism” and everyone goes. I understand and believe the line has been drawn, that we not need to further ourselves deeper than where we are. There’s a lot of programs out there that I believe shouldn’t be a burden to the taxpayer. One is free college, college should it be one’s want should be paid by said individual, let’s just get the cost down, find a way. Free health care, let’s try something else, cut hospital stays, doctors visits, medicine costs, let’s try those routes. I believe that if taxes are raised to get all these free programs, their costs will still go up and taxes will be raised again I don’t know of any solutions, but there has to be someone out there that does.
