We don’t teach our kids in the make-believe stuff. But I wouldn’t dare decide what other ppls kids are to believe. But I will say this, MY kids have never faced heartbreak from finally finding out it was all a lie. I mean, how are they to believe us about anything after finding out we lied to them for the first years of their lives? Kids can be kids plenty, without being told lies. They can enjoy fairytales without being told they’re real. No one has the right to steal innocence from children, although I think the punishment was very extreme, maybe they should have just walked around the school, Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Road Christmas shirt with a giant banner saying, today I learned my lesson, I should not steal innocence from children.

Parents should have the final say in such matters. It’s not the school’s place to raise the children. She should have just kept quiet. A sub has no business showing up for one or two days, causing problems and controversy in the school and then walking away as nothing happened. Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Road Christmas shirt I grew up in a family where they told us the truth. My mom said we bought your gifts with our money, why thank Santa when you can thank us. Some kids in my class would get so upset when I told them those are make-believe characters. They eventually found out I’m sure. To me, it seemed silly to believe in Santa. How could someone go to that many houses in one night? Made no logical sense. Nothing wrong with some fun but nothing wrong with knowing they are not real either.

It wasn’t her place to decide this decision. If the children’s parents wanted their children to believe in this or any kind of religion. It was the parent’s place to choose this. Not a teachers. Her job is to teach her profession of study. She should be punished for overstepping her boundaries. I’m sure her degree wasn’t in this field. Santa is not religious. He is no more religious than the Easter bunny, Tooth faerie, or Cupid. It’s called Mythical creatures. Santa is a Mythical Magical Old man with elves. It’s not anti-religious to call him a Myth. Mickey Mouse isn’t real either. Spidermen, Hulk, nope. Only God’s and Goddesses are associated with actual religion. Many can agree on a Spiritual link beyond our flesh, while some simply do not. Either way, it goes, Santa is neither real nor a God.
