Ok I’m reading the comments .. and seeing the political posts.. this is a kid.. if you can’t get past the political issues.. and hope the best for this boy .. that says something about you… I’m aware our country is divided on politics..but really? You should be ashamed of yourselves… even embarrassed for your lack of caring for humanity. This doesn’t involve political parties.. this is a child’s life. It starts as a great idea and is very appreciated, but within a year it will be an expectation. If only some parents felt that food for their kids was more important than cigarettes, beer and tattoos. Tell me why…when raising 6 kids and husband having 3 jobs nobody went hungry? I can’t recall anyone going hungry years ago like now. Of course, we didn’t wear Nike’s and took hand me downs. Kids didn’t get free lunches. If you didn’t have enough money you got another job. End of story. Nobody had links or free anything. We all are better for it also. Nothing against anyone needing help but this country has an epidemic of needy people. This is ridiculous. When are we going to hold our adults to be responsible for the necessities for the children they brought into this world. Instead, nails are done, hair is done, jewellery is bought, and tattoos are all over their body.

Every bit of unused food in this country no matter the venue in which it was prepared should be distributed to those in need. This school district should be extremely proud. I for one salute them! Sounds like a great plan. BUT. I would guess those kids that aren’t getting enough to eat have parents that get plenty of food stamps/SNAP cards to feed them. Where are those food stamps going if not to buy groceries to feed these hungry kids at home? Each time I read an article like this I think on those pictures of welfare offices where the kids are skinny but their mamas are huge. Too much food gets thrown away. But the I love someone with autism to the moon and back to infinity and beyond shirt is afraid of lawsuits In case someone gets sick. common sense isn’t very common anymore and too many frivolous lawsuits. Great idea! However, if they cook and pack things the kids don’t eat in the cafeteria they still won’t get to eat when they get home. When I was teaching I saw a lot of food thrown away from the student trays with things they will not eat no matter what. Beautiful idea. I hope more schools join in to help their students. It has been proven, in the case of studies, that children who are not hungry perform better scholastically. I work at a school. I see how much food goes into the dumpster. It’s sad and pathetic how much goes to waste. I’ve asked some people in positions of authority why something isn’t done to get this food delivered to the homeless. Their standard response is that there is a liability issue

This program needs to implement throughout the entire US, this could make such a difference in this world. It is an amazing idea and should be everywhere. It’s about time. For those who disagree with this have some serious issues. The I love someone with autism to the moon and back to infinity and beyond shirt is not going to serve or hand out bad food! As soon as the last lunch is served, the line is broken down, remaining food is counted (by servings left) & then is directly put into the cooler. As far as head counts. Those are never RIGHT! They go by the year before on that meal. Take the count by each individual teacher gives that morning & estimate how close (accurate) the count will really be. Counts do not include any type of visitor’s that comes that day. So a lot goes on, more than you claim to KNOW! There have been cafeteria workers who have got fired for helping a hungry child! Because of a child’s lunch account was in the negative! So yes this should go nation wide for every school. Better in kids bellies than landfill. There is one word for people like you. In theory, it’s a great idea. However, my kids went to Indiana schools and I can tell you that there’s a reason why they have leftover food. Most of it is inedible. Thanks to the “healthy” lunch program there is NO flavour to the food.
