Maybe a return to domestic science lessons for all in secondary school would go some way to alleviate the issue for future parents.

It is not the responsibility of schools to provide all these things for other people’s children. Increasingly schools and teachers are becoming social workers – feeding them (not just at lunchtime), clothing them as well as washing their clothes, providing other life essentials as well as sorting out domestic problems.

The authorities in some areas provide parenting classes and food banks. Not blaming people who genuinely fall on hard times but there are far too many people having children irresponsibly these days without the means to support them. Might as well just hand them over to the state to bring up. If you can’t feed them, don’t breed them
