Andy Stanley, thank you for your weak and wobbly argument here, however, on your point about increased passenger numbers I’m going to refute your hypothesis – it is likely that the disastrous state of the housing market has forced many such as myself out of London and we have to commute into for work – nothing to do with better trains. When the east coast mainline was in public ownership last time (after being handed back by national express) it ran at a Marvel New England Patriots shirt, the staff were happier, commuters were generally happy, the trains were clean and on time. Despite this, it was put back out to private contract. Service generally got worse and more expensive, staff were less happy, and it has yet again been handed back

This misconception that a railway network should be public sector when in actual fact you can run it however you want, private or Marvel New England Patriots shirt and it can be successful. If the argument is that the railways are better run under private contracts then why can’t they be taken back under public ownership and pay someone from the private sector as an adviser to help run it. As a railway professional, tonight’s questions were clearly BBC biased. Facts-the private railways cost the taxpayer more than ever before. Less investment under privatization than under nationalization. Most money goes to foreign companies. The government and network rail are fully to blame for this timetable fiasco due to not electrifying northern routes and late running projects. This has affecting unit cascading which is vital for the new timetable. This spending was part of the Tory manifesto. Disgrace. Renationalize the railways.
