Certainly isn’t the first school to ditch uniform in Bristol. When I was at Lawrence Weston School there was no uniform. It didn’t work very well as there was a lot of shaming of pupils who didn’t have known brands or swanky gear. Parrot autism seeing the world from a different angle shirt I would have much preferred a proper uniform that we were required to wear properly with shoes polished and tie done up correctly as was required in the school I went to before Lawrence Weston. Train companies, airlines, councils, KFC, costa, dominos just a few of the thousands of companies that have a uniform policy. That these kids will have to wear when they join the real world.

We can have smart but affordable school uniforms, why do we need to have school logos on everything that you can only purchase from them. Kids are in school to be educated and not punished for the incorrect Parrot autism seeing the world from a different angle shirt, haircut etc. Uniform is only a leveller provided schools don’t enter these cosy deals with overpriced official suppliers. It’s a national scandal that many families do struggle to afford uniforms when generic supermarket versions should be accepted. So relaxing uniform policy is the right direction to go.

Terrible – a uniform stops kids having to be different from others at school – I wouldn’t be able to afford school clothes and out of school clothes – cos I’m sure my son would want different – I have a uniform for work – most people do – it’s bad enough with the ‘designer’ things kids want out of school – couldn’t even imagine forking out for that in school. All that’s needed is for a school to nominate the colours when I went to school it was navy blue/black skirt or trousers and white top is it the shirt, jumper t-shirt. Not all this embroidered stuff which is costing parents a lot of money
