Staff had offered to push him on a rigid high-backed chair but he refused as he felt it removed his independence I feel bad for his experience, but they did try to help him and he refused the help. If he had allowed the help it would have been a blip in his life that was over & done with. I realize he wants to be independent at all times, but sometimes things happen and a helping hand is needed it doesn’t make you less of a person. No one would have even taken more than a glance at him in the wheelchair but by dragging himself he did become the spectacle he didn’t want to be by being pushed in a wheelchair. Kind of fulfilling his own fear.
